Born in Albany, New York, Carl Thomas Ornsdorff was the son of an MIT Professor and a Lawyer. The second oldest of four he has an older sister, May who has become a Published Author, and a younger sister Patricia, who died (how). The final Ornsdorff child is Joseph, a First Lieutenant in the USMC. When Carl graduated from James Deetz High School he attend New York University obtaining his Bachelor’s of Science in Anthropology and Linguistics, before going on to get his Doctorate of Philosophy in Anthropology from the University of Manchester.

Then Doctor Ornsdorff made a slightly unusual career changed, and joined the United States Army. He did his Basic Training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, followed by Leaders Course at Fort Benning and Fort Huachuca. Following his commissioning as a Second Lieutenant he was assigned as a Human Intelligence Officer at Fort Wainwright in Alaska. During his three years here he caught the eye of his CO who recommended he be placed into the Stargate Program, he possessed Anthropological, Linguist and Intelligence skills, combined with basic Army Training.

In 2020 he was promoted to First Lieutenant and assigned as the Anthropologist to SG-17. He served here for 2 years before being promoted to Captain, and made the Chief Science Officer aboard the USS Tria, an Ancient Battleship operated by the United States Military.
