The only child of a doctor and a surgeon Jamie grew up around medicine. He was always interested in Science, especially biology, and from an early age had a desire to become a doctor. However he was also very interested in flying, the military and space. After finishing high school he was accepted into Oxford and completed Medical School. From there he went on to join the Royal Air Force.

After completing his basic training he was posted to RAF Mount Pleasant, on the Falkland Islands as a Flight Surgeon after his time here was a fly qualified surgeon and had displayed great skill as a trauma specialist, after his time at Mount Pleasant he was promoted to Flying Officer and brought into the Stargate Program. He was posted to the SGC as a Medical Officer, but quickly picked up as the Medic for SG-14.

Three years here, including a promotion to Flight Lieutenant saw him reassigned as the Head of Trauma Medicine on the UNV Poseidon, a 307. He spent two years here before being reassigned to the Aureus-Celestis Expedition as the Head of Trauma as well as a Trauma Specialist on the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) CE-4.

When the ACE ended he was posted to the Excalibur Expedition as a the Head of Trauma Medicine.
